Take control of your coats.
Our cry goes out to take control of your coats! The colder season is upon us, and now is a great time to make sure you have a go-to coat, or even a collection of coats that really work for you.
It’s such a shame when you end up just wearing one.
We believe that this is really just a symptom of sickly wardrobe syndrome. Our philosophy is to step back, don't just grab and go but pause, reflect a little.
Think about what you do and how you live, where you go and what you do, and then create a collection of coats that reflect your life and suit your style.
Here are my top six which could be a good start to any woman’s winter wardrobe:
Milano Wool SB Coat – I can't decide between the Cocoon and the Midi. Both are simple, cosy but smart and have nice horn buttons or a feature popper. I need a proper coat cover-up, and the slightly tailored look of the Milano does this well.
The Duster A Line Coat – This is my investment piece for the season, complete with a new shape and fabric. It’s modern yet nicely minimal, so it’s a hard working piece when I need a coat that’s not too done up – it’s light but warm and relaxed.
The Milano Wool Blazer – I already have the little Milano blazer from a few seasons ago with the brass buttons but it’s been so successful that I have worn it to death. I am going to refresh and renew with the Milano Wool Blazer. Great classic look, and really easy to wear with almost anything at any time.
The Audrey Cashmere Coat – This coat is my weekend obsession - I can spend the whole weekend in one of these - worn over pyjamas when I get up, over leggings out and about and over a party dress
when I get in late at night and unwind.
This is an essential for me and my two-colour strategy means that I always have a fresh one for the week too.
The Trench – In England it rains and rains and rains! A trench coat is the most stylish way to stay dry and look chic.
If you are lucky enough to live in warmer climes then the trench is still an essential for its classic good looks and iconic timeless status. It is a little-known fact that Winser London CEO, Kim Winser, used to be the head of a very well-known coat and mac brand - so
it’s no surprise that the Winser London trench and other coats in the collection are all of a thoroughbred nature…
And finally – More on my wish-list for now, or a great gift I will buy for a friend, is the poncho – it is so so practical. One size fits all, cosy, cuddly – it’s the chic comfort blanket you can wear. The double-sided one cuts a real dash and you can have fun
playing with your split personality. The cashmere one is just a no-brainer and the dogtooth design is right on trend and is worthy of a place in any woman’s wardrobe…
