Dress Sense

I was at a Winser London event last month when an invited group joined Kim Winser for her inaugural Trunk Show with mini fashion show and champagne at a West End hotel. I was there to help the guests have fun trying on the collection.

Everyone had their wish list of favourites but it was interesting to see how many women gravitated towards the dresses. The dress is the most efficient piece of clothing a woman can own. However much we are exhorted to embrace layering, and the anything goes approach, savvy ladies know that, from boardroom to social event, the dress rules.

In the Winser London fabrics, Ponte de Roma, jersey, and crepe, the dresses are season-less, and perfect for city wear all year round. All the effort comes in selecting the dress for you. It does involve a lot of trying on in front of a long mirror (our best friend), putting the proposed dress with various shoes, jackets, and pieces of favourite jewellery. Once selected, it is effortless. This dress slides happily from day to evening.

Two new shapes team the easy, sophisticated styling and fabric of the Winser London collection with the new fuller fit-and-flare skirt design. The Full Skirt Dress is young and sassy, very up to the minute in Ponte de Roma fabric which gives the skirt shape and body. One of the colours is Winser Blue which will make it an ideal dress for a wedding. The Flared Jersey Dress is in light soft jersey and, in the dark colours, is an all-round-dress, and in the optic white, a wow for high days and holidays. Another new style is the Jersey Scarf Dress which is a sophisticated option for boardroom and restaurant dinners.

Owning a core group of dresses to choose from can be a life changing experience and certainly makes getting ready a breeze. What do women want? Simple clothes that slot neatly into real life.
