DRAPED JERSEY EVENING SKIRT £150

This seasons eveningwear is all about simple, slinky dressing. Glam silk shirts, smart ladies trousers, long skirts and occasion dresses.
Eveningwear is too often at the bottom of our shopping lists but in the fore-front of our minds, because nagging away is the knowledge that parties and evening dos will have to be dressed for this December.

We don’t want to spend a fortune or cruise the high street stores amongst the hoards. Despite the fact that the shops are full of pizazz – sweaters with rhinestones, prints galore, we want to be able to wear what we buy many times over. Let’s dress up our eveningwear with our own bags, jewels, shoes and silk scarves and make the looks personal. Low key and sexy is always a good look. Black and red, lace and crepe are good colours and fabrics to choose.

The Winser London long black dress and the Mod inspired mini dress are good ideas. Slim or wide crepe trousers with a zinging white or cream silk blouse with cufflinks tucks into trousers or a long slinky skirt.

Try a swooshing full skirt teamed with ingénue ballet pumps; the wider skirt that creates the season’s hourglass silhouette is this winter’s hit trend. If you want to go down the evening sweater route, allow a strap to fall, let your sweater drop over a bare shoulder or push up sweater sleeves to show something sparkling on your wrist. Yes to backless tops, try a crepe number and a figure hugging dress to enhance your feminine side. As for colour, red, black or navy, of course, but the woman who wears winter white is always a woman of intrigue.
