Even if we recognise their beautiful faces we don’t always know every model's name. Freja has been on the cover of Vogue many times in different guises, she has walked at all the top designer shows for many seasons and been on all famous photographers “favourites” list. The brunette has modelled for nearly every desirable luxury brand: Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Balenciaga to name a few. What marks her out as a style icon, apart from her serene beauty and gorgeous smile, is her own natural sense of modern chic. Freja’s personal fashion choices are much written about, photographed and emulated by her legion of fans. Freja says she has been wearing her signature uniform of a white T-shirt, black jeans and a biker jacket since she was six years old. “I was a little biker girl. I thought it was cool, everyone else thought it was really weird, the other little girls were all in these pretty dresses and my mum bought me this black, studded leather jacket, which I loved."
Freja Beha Erichsen is the epitome of laid-back Scandinavian chic. She was born in 1987 in Roskilde, Denmark. She started modelling at 17 when she was discovered on a street in Copenhagen. She reminds me of a young Françoise Hardy, she has that cultivated beatnik style that is timeless. In one interview she was asked what she would buy for a treat for herself and she replied, “I would buy interior pieces. My house is loft-style with lots of space so I want to choose good quality furniture and decorative pieces. I love quality sheets, so I buy Porthault or Pratesi.” She is often described as having an androgynous style but I find her look feminine and sexy.
