Well-cut black makes us feel in control. No mess, no print, no colour, no confusion.
This season is packed with riotous ideas and fashion has fallen under the spell of opulent enthusiasts, but let’s not get carried away. Black is chic, and while it’s important to have hits of colour like red, we must have our favourite little black dress – especially for the evening.
Helpfully, last month Winser posted all of their black dresses on one page. Delve into the colour options and your black winter wardrobe will be revealed.
First up the Karla lace dress, which is a bit of a charmer at £250, combines femininity and tailoring. There is a black Ponte de Roma dress with Georgette silk sleeves – a steal at £150. I have a bit of a thing for wrap dresses, they’re so flattering; this one is lined too and dresses up easily, again £150. The Lauren dress, £250, is in Satin-backed crepe and is the ultimate LBD. Very glam and simple, the crepe jersey sleeveless v neck shift at £125, is a no-brainer.
I like trousers and have always loved crepe jackets. It’s easy to miss this perfect satin-backed crepe jacket; it is fitted and has a discreet ruffled detail, £295, and I think would work to create a soft tuxedo evening suit.
