Colour matters: especially in the summer. Not only does it lift our spirits but marks the end of winter. Packing away my matt black tights is the marker for me of the start of a new warm weather look. In fact I get quite upset when I see black tights still being worn too far into the summer season. Let's embrace colour. Pale petal pinks and stronger tones of rose and blush work worn with white and navy. Baby pinks look well on English-rose complexions and a brighter toned pink lipstick is a good choice. Blue in all its shades is the hit of the summer collections, with Winser Blue selling fast, as well as our palest blue and cornflower; in fact all the blue shades are being worn every day this season. Navy is the prevalent base colour currently, and black is taking a back seat. For Spring Summer I have switched from black to navy. Grey has gone up to the loft and is replaced by blush and off whites when neutrals are needed. The pervasive message for summer is the power of positive colour choices there is no better recipe for standing out from the crowd than by wearing red. Don’t let's think scarlet as just a winter hue. High definition colours are right for summer events: Ascot, Wimbledon, Henley, Polo, think of teaming a red coat over a white dress or white chinos. It is a canny idea to stock up right now, so that we can enjoy a gust of colour in our lives for the next few glorious months of summer.
