Season 4 House of Cards is just beginning on Netflix and I am hooked all over again. I can’t quite get my head around all the plots but Robin Wright carries us all along with her feline glamour. Whenever I watch the show I vow I will sharpen up my own style. She slinks in silk shirts and fitted frocks, works the White House with purpose in high heels, runs head to toe black and wears her hair sleek and short. This month she is on the cover of British Harper's Bazaar portrayed in a style which is not much different from her screen goddess look. In the show she is the newly-minted First Lady, Claire Underwood, in perfectly tailored ensembles. If you haven’t seen the show, Claire Underwood is one of those characters by whom it is impossible not to be riveted, such is Robin Wright’s magnetism in the role. In the new season, her long-time stylist shows a little bit more of her character’s vulnerability through her wardrobe. “I think we accomplished this with softer colours, lighter materials and fuller skirts”. Claire/Robin wore a classic Cartier Tank watch in seasons 1 and 2 but for season 3 this was swapped for the Cartier Tank Louis timepiece with a brown leather strap, the same style worn by Jackie Kennedy over the years, clearly a nod to her influence. I checked out some snaps on the Netflix website so we can all channel her style. Black, thin trench mac; fitted stretch dresses; white, sharp, short jacket; pencil skirt; white cotton blouse – just add Kevin Spacey.
