Sail Away

Each December we have friends who are getting away for the Christmas season. Absolutely no hats, trees, lights or pudding. To leave the crowds and the drab grey skies would be very heaven.

There is a really strong colour theme coming out of the international collections and designers have all used cream palettes for Winter and Spring 2014. This covers all the shades from laundry white to darkest burnt cream. Don’t be afraid of mixing different whites and creams together, that is what makes the look new.  So do check out all the neutral pieces in the collection and build your own holiday wardrobe.

At Winser London there are many pieces in these beautiful tinted shades that will create a wonderful collection to take on your travels and will work as well in Gstaad or Grenada.  The neutral coloured trousers are an item we have seen on all the catwalks. They look wonderful in the day with a white t shirt or at night teamed with satin, lace or cashmere, depending on the temperature of your vacation.

The new fabric mixes, fine cashmere and silk, different weights of crepe and a variety of intelligent yarn variations make these clothes useful 12 months of the year.

Another great holiday pant is the Giselle, photographed here in pinky shell cream. Again, wearable with any of the many tops, cardigans, tunics, blouses  in cotton, silk or cashmere, in knits and wovens.

People always ask about shoes and bags to go with white. This season there are many bronze accessories to choose from and I love this slightly glitzy look. But to be more toned down, cream and neutral leather always looks chic. Black is crisp particularly in patent. What not to do, well, I don’t like bright leather colours with this white story so maybe save those for another day.
