There is no secret to successful sale shopping, we know only too well the draw of the mark-down but there are just a few pointers we need to remember. Your choice if it is eye candy you want or something more dependable, however, constantly ask yourself if you will get cost-per-wear on your proposed purchase. Does it fit in with the image you want to project in 2017?
INTERNET SHOPPING. Hours of fun can be had pyjama shopping! I do advise accepting email alerts from your favourite brands, it’s savvy to keep in touch and know when there are sale weekends and special offers to be had. It is an economical way to add another sweater or pair of favourite trousers, as you already know the shape and quality. I have trousers and sweater shape from Winser that I rebuy.
COLOUR. Buying colour at sale time is a great plan. Your favourite shape in a new colour. Take a risk. I see there are two excellent red pieces in the Winser Sale this year.
ALONE. Of course, it is fun to shop with your bestie but stalking that special piece is best done alone, rather than cruising post lunch.
BUDGET. Set one, however vague. Getting carried away is usually a mistake and returning sales goods is always a hassle.
WORK LIFE. Career women need a lot of smart clothes and the sales are ideal windows of opportunity to complete your working wardrobe. Smart dresses and suits are always available and dressing for the office 200 days a year means your clothes work as hard as you do.
PARTY GIRL. If you do a lot of fancy socialising by all means trawl the sales for some beautiful designer bling. This season, and into next year, we expect to see a continuation of frills and fancy sleeves, velvets and sparkle.
