It’s a truth universally known that women wear trousers, and usually in a year of 365 days, trousers may be worn half of those days, at the very least. So let’s say our trousers get 200 wearings a year.
To stand up to all this work, a trouser needs to be well built, have a great cut, in a great fabric. 6 or 7 pairs you love are ideal. Some we will wear with flats – some with heels.
As we rev up to a new Autumn and Winter season, it’s a good plan to try on all ones trousers and honestly appraise the situation, and run a check list for new buys.
Winser London’s trouser shapes and colours cover all our needs. Each style, though different in cut, are all key trends, and they will look the business on a variety of body shapes. This month let’s focus on the task ahead with 3 shapes.
The Winser Trouser - These are just great. They’re a bit like a smart, stretch jean, with front and back pockets. Really straight and fitted. Yes, our bums will look good in these. This Italian cotton stretch fabric has a two way stretch and they have just the right rise. Not completely on the waist but not low either. For me, the search is over. Obviously shirts can be tucked neatly in for thinnies. For me, I will wear my shirt or sweater more like a tunic. The shape is really leg lengthening. Colours this season are red, camel and black.
Sporty Slim Leg Trouser - This satin backed crepe straight trouser is the elusive ideal. Good for day or night. Leg lengthening and quintessentially slimming. They are tapered and extra long so they ruche slightly at the ankle and come with a sporty side stripe in the same colour but a contrasting fabric. A dressy smart casual style that is super hip. Big range of colours too - midnight blue, red and black. Also, camel and nude, two great neutrals. You could wear them with a cashmere sweater for a casual evening or with a smart jacket. High heels would be great with these trousers.
A Wider Pant - Rediscover your inner Annie Hall in these grown up soft trousers. I just love both of these very new shapes. You will see versions of these in all the glossy mags. So we better get with the program.
One is a wide leg, jersey trouser in black. Neat and flat in the waist and hip area, then fluid in the leg. Great with a heel and the mood is definitely evening here. I can imagine them at a black tie dinner worn with an evening sweater or blouse.
Last but not least my favourite, the Lauren pant. An homage to Lauren Bacall and a real Hollywood look. This is a mannish pant in a feminine fabric. I love the front pleats and the pockets. They look just perfect in the picture, worn with the navy satin blouse and Chanel style cardigan. Equally good with a white t-top and some massive pearls. On my wish list.
