The Art of Merino and Milano

YASMIN LE BON MERINO WOOL 'Y' STITCH COAT £395

Merino is a breed of sheep regarded as having some of the finest and softest wool. Bred mainly in Australia and New Zealand, flocks are shorn more than once a year as their thick, soft coats grow continuously. Merino is one of the softest types of wool available because of its incredibly fine, smooth fibres which result in a yarn prized for being of the highest quality.

Merino wool is excellent for wearing next to the skin as it helps to regulate body temperature, providing warmth without overheating the wearer thanks to millions of tiny air pockets within the fine fibres.

Milano is a double-knit fabric with an unusual structure, produced on machines with two sets of needles. Both sides of the fabric look the same with a clean, firm structure with dimensional stability, making it perfect for skirts, jackets and coats while it maintains the soft hand feel and comfort of a knitted garment. The Milano knit has substantial 'body' which holds the structure of a garment and recovers the garment shape post sitting, making it great for travelling. Any minor creasing is fixed by a quick steam which means these garments are easy to care for in our busy modern lives.
