Time to move on from heavy winter coats to something lighter, and there are several Winser London coats that I could not recommend more enthusiastically. One is the Yasmin Le Bon Merino Wool ‘Y’ Stitched Coat, £395, in midnight navy and blush. It’s soft and thick in Merino wool, looks like a coat but feels like a cardigan and is definitely warm enough if going door-to-door by car. How many coats is normal? Well, a lot. And with the newer lighter coats that double up as a long jacket, the number adds up in no time.
The Milano Wool Edge to Edge is a dream coat and jacket, I'm particularly loving the Hollywood red and blush.
The Crepe Jersey A-Line Coat, £250, is a more substantial garment with a wonderful swing to it.
The Milano Cotton Edge to Edge Coat is spring-like but knitted in a firm Milano stitch and a snip at £115.
The stretch and ease of these fabrics is extremely comfortable. Until this new breed of coat we were always checking or carrying them, but changing lifestyle requires fashion to come up with new ideas. These modern coats do not need checking in; for book launches, gallery openings and drinks you should arrive and stay dressed in these new modern coats.
