We tend to think that when things are suddenly in fashion, they can disappear quickly too. In fact, fashion looks go in waves; sometimes in and out quickly, others take time to develop and grow.
Pink crept up on us a few seasons ago and if the magazines and Prada were to be believed it was being worn by everyone. Not so, it really has been a stealth trend, starting at the high end of fashion. So different from the nineties when the top end was all about beige. Remember the importance of Armani at that time?
2016 is much more sensible, mainly because there are so many shades of pink to choose from. Bright, pinky-raspberry tweeds, blush coloured silk, sugar-icing pink, chic vintage rose – they are all on offer. Why not wear pink with black and white – such a chic combo. Pink sweater, black everything else. Or reverse it and try pink skirt and black shirt, coat, tights and shoes. Think of pink as another neutral, not always to be matched but a piece on its own.
So don’t miss out on all the glorious pinks.
