HOW TO
DRESS FOR AN OCCASION
Getting dressed for a special occasion can be difficult. What colour, length and style should one choose and what are the faux-pas you need to avoid…
Our founder Kim Winser, who attends numerous events, shares her top tips to help you tackle any sort of occasion dressing.

BE YOURSELF
Dress or no dress, think Lauren Bacall or Catherine Deneuve, wear what suits you and your figure. I believe true style comes from an inner feeling as well as an outward image, so think very carefully about the event itself and your personal style over what is fashionable or expected.

COLOUR RULES
The fact is, there is no rule. Figure out what you like and suit you best. Black is a strong go-to for some events, but then something in fun bright colours will stand out – personally I love bright colour combos, I wear a strong pink with red and love it, and all neutrals is always super chic.

CONSIDER TEMPERATURE CHANGES
I’m never without one of my cashmere wraps, the jewel colours just add relaxed, luxurious style. It feels special and soft, and does a job in air conditioning or the chilly night air.

BUY FOR AN OCCASION, BUT WEAR IT DAILY
I love multi-tasking designs, probably my only exception is an evening dress but even my Maxi Silk Shirt Dress layered and left open for a more informal event.

WEDDINGS
There’s something about a wedding that makes me want to feel elegant but also soft and chic. A simple dress works well or one of my favourites is the satin backed crepe suit, smart but super soft and elegant.

DRESSING FOR A JOB INTERVIEW
Pre interview please do your research and even more research, illustrate your talent and knowledge in the answers and your questions. For your outfit, do make sure everything is immaculate, no hems down, dirty shoes etc., but clean, sharp lines is perfect as gives off the message ‘I know what I’m doing, I’m smart, and organised’ and consider adding a touch of your own personality - this can be a bag, a note file, or just earrings.
